[atrb=valign, top] Akira wasn't one for really going out of the Village,MHe didn't need to. That was the job of someone other than a Gatherer, but he needed some air. So why not kill to birds with one stone and go out to gather some supplies he normally wouldhavevhad to wait for on his walk. Not like he wasn't allowed to.
Seaweed was what he needed, and Lake Infinity was the only place it could be found. He had started to grow some nice pickling vegitables and seaweed would help, however, there wasn't very much in stock at the Village, and he needed to start selling them as soon as possible.
He tried not to be too much in the water, as he knew this was Mermaid territory. He had heard many rumors about the Mermaids, about how vicious they were, that they would kill anyone or anything. He wasn't sure if he believed them himself, but he still didn't want to take any chances.
Trying to make as little noise as possible, he began to pluck the delecate sea grass and put it in a basket he has brought with himself. He knew he couldn't stay long as the walk was long to the Village, but he still wanted a lot, maybe he would be able to sell some it, it was in large demand at the moment. He let out a small content sigh thinking about it.

She gazed at the sun above her, rippling along with the lake water. Oh how she wished she were a human. She hated being in the water all the time, where her father could easily find her. Frowning, Rin placed the shell beside her and sighed heavily. She then sat up, and began swimming toward the beach, where she felt most at home. As she neared the water's edge, and figure caught her eye. Curiosity overwhelmed her, and she began to paddle faster. The closer she got, the more clear the image became. Soon enough, she made out the shape of a human, a human boy. Excitement had now replaced her previous feeling, for she had never met a male human before, just females. As she broke the water's surface, she had she squint her eyes at the blinding sunlight that glimmered along the water. When her eyes adjusted, Rin ducked her head a bit lower under the lake water, and began inching towards him. She tried to be quiet, so that she wouldn't startle him.[/style] [style=font-size: 10px; text-align: center;]TEMPLATE BY SAMARECARM OF OTE + BTN[/style]

The last festival had had some good music, quite catchy to his ears at least. He seemed to have stopped paying attention to his surroundings, unaware of the female one a few meters away, small head poking out of the blue water.
His basket now half full, he began to walk to another area of more plentiful seaweed, he really just wanted to grab the best looking pieces. He knew how to take, and what to take, from the land. It was his duty after all being a Gatherer.
The small blue yukata he wore was now rolled up this knees, as not to get wet for the journey back. He lifted his left arm to wipe a small bead of sweat from his brow, the sun was showing and he could feel it, as there was no shade at the lake edges, being how large it was.
Suddenly, he heard a small splash, looking up, he scanned the lake to see what it was,"Probably just a frog or something..." He breathed out nervously, his humming gone. [atrb=border,0,true][bg=EEEEEE][atrb=width,500,true]— BROKEN PIECES OF. A BARELY BREATHING STORY. Soon, Rin was only a few meters away from the boy. She smiled as he plucked a bit of seaweed from the lake's floor. He obviously was what she was, a Gatherer. Though she was also a Healer, and Rin wondered if he was as well. Paddling toward him, Rin sunk her head low in the water, only showing her eyes and they top of her head. She slithered over to him, now so close she could touch him. Gulping down her nervousness, Rin began to speak.
"Why are you gathering seaweed?" She asked. She wasn't sure what else to say other than that, though she regretted speaking after she had shut her mouth. A few moments of silence later, Rin realized that he boy hadn't heard her. She cleared her throat and tried once more. "Why are you gathering seaweed?" Rin asked again, though this time she was much louder. TEMPLATE BY SAMARECARM OF OTE + BTN

[atrb=valign, top] Telling himself that it wasn't some flesh eating monster, or even worse a Shadow, he continued to collect seaweed until he heard a small feminine voice.
"Why are you gathering seaweed?"
He turned around to see the small head of a Mermaid sticking out, hair pink and eyes wide. He could feel the yurk pulled from his mouth, "Mer-Mer-Mermaid!"
Falling back, his basket was sent flying, the contents scattering into the water and onto the beach. He paid no attention to this however and locked eyes on the being before him, "Please don't eat me!" He said, holding his hands up defensively.
His clothes now soaked and his findings now scattered here and there, he let out a small whimper, a small tear forming in his right eyes from the fall onto his bottom. He was always one to think like an airhead before everything. But that was just him after all.

[atrb=border,0,true][bg=EEEEEE][atrb=width,500,true]— BROKEN PIECES OF. A BARELY BREATHING STORY. When the boy asked for her not to eat him, Rin couldn't help but laugh. She would never eat a human, she loved them too much. Besides, he probably wouldn't taste very good.
Suddenly, Rin noticed a tear streak down from the boy's eye. Her smile turned into a concerned frown, and the waddled over to him. "Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you." Rin placed her hand on his knee, showing a sign of trust.
That was when she noticed that his seaweed had scattered all over the lake. She felt horrible, for she had scared him and made his drop what he had been gathering. Releasing his knee, Rin dove into the bottom of the lake, and began searching for a large patch of seaweed. When she found one, she plucked up as much as she could carry, and swam back up to the soaking wet boy. "I'm sorry, I hope this makes up for what you lost." Rin handed the boy what she had collected when she reached the top.

[atrb=valign, top] He flinched slightly when the girl touched his knee, but soon calmed down, seeing she wasn't the flesh eating monster many villagers liked to say Mermaids were, though when he thought about it those were mainly Warriors and they did stuff like that a lot...
He was brought back from his thoughts by the sound of splashing again as the Mermaid dove into the water. He frowned slightly, "Maybe I was too rude..." He mumbled to himself, standing back up and started to collect the dropped seaweed back to his basket.
"I'm sorry, I hope this makes up for what you lost."
He looked over to see the girl once again, a large bundle of seaweed in her hands. His eyes widened, "Wow! No way I could never get that much seaweed!"
Marveling at the sight he gently took them and set them in his basket, "Wow thank you." He then nervously scratched the back of his head, "And uh, haha... Sorry for calling you a flesh eating monster.........." His cheeks began to heat up.

[atrb=border,0,true][bg=EEEEEE][atrb=width,500,true]— BROKEN PIECES OF. A BARELY BREATHING STORY. Rin felt overwhelming joy when the joy took the seaweed. She smiled as he apologized for calling her a monster. "Oh, that's okay. I've heard you humans call us worse names before when you would come by the lake's edge. I usually don't take them too personally, because I think that you are just so brilliant." Rin confessed, her grin still in tact. Laying down, Rin let the tide devour her body, leaving only her head dry. She placed her hands under her head, propping it up slightly. This was a very comfortable position. Gazing up at the boy, her smile grew bigger. She liked him. He was different compared to most other humans.
After a moment or two of silence, Rin sat up. "So, why were you gathering seaweed?" The question from before had returned. She was still curious as to why, for she couldn't see how the humans could ever need it. TEMPLATE BY SAMARECARM OF OTE + BTN

[atrb=valign, top] He looked down at the Mermaid girl. He seemed to notice now just how Human she looked from here, just her head and arms. Her long pink hair seemed like it would be puffy if it was fully dry...
She was very pretty he came to think, and she was friendly, the complete opposite of what he had been told they were. He smiled as she continued to talk, not really even paying attention to what it was she said until,
"So, why were you gathering seaweed?"
Smiling nervously again, he gave a small laugh, embarrassed to have been caught off guard.
After gaining his composure back, he looked at her again, he normal smile back, "Well," He started, "It tastes good if you dry it. And its good in things, and it helps me pickle things."
He once again sat down, he supposed it didn't really matter as his clothes were already quite soaking. He tilted his head to the side, "So, what is Mermaid culture like?"

Besides, being in the water 24/7, she couldn't really dry or pickle things. So, she just nodded her head, not sure of what to say. The boy then asked what her culture was like. She had never been asked that, thought then again, she had never talked to anyone who didn't know about mermaids already. Leaning back, Rin gazed up at the drifting clouds.
"I'm not sure how to answer that question. It's probably different compared to human culture, but where would I begin? The only way you could really know that is by coming down into the city with me." Rin sighed. Oh how she wished he could bring him down to her home. She wanted to show him everything and introduce him to everyone. Then she thought about going to his town. That would be even more of a treat. "I'd rather see you're world though. It seems much more fascinating." Rin confessed. She placed her hands on her tail and looked over to the boy. "You know, I never got your name."
